..Dec. 31st. The last find for 2004. I found it about 5 inches down at an old one room school site. Had 50 degree weather and was fun to get out detecting. Look at the goofy little face on this token. I love it. On the reverse it reads, W.Jaxon Grocer Jackson Hall Jackson Mich 1863 I love finding these tokens. They are all so different. This is the 4th one I have found with my hometown on it. Jackson.

Yeah, me too. You should see some of the Indian head pennies I find. Just beauties. I really believe it is the Michigan soil. I visit most metal detecting forums and most other states, the coppers do not stand the test of time in the ground as well as the soil here in Michigan. Not all States just the majority. Jim
Could it be more related to the temperature? I would think a coin buried in frozen ground (MI) might keep a little better than a coin buried in a warmer climate (So. States). Just an idea with no knowledge to back it up.
