Barber coins- good idea??

    From the looks of a lot of Barbers I've seen even a problem free Good is better than average and a solid VG would be towards the top of the curve. As long you stick to problem free pieces with pleasing appearance I don't think you could go wrong.

    For my money, the Barber series made for some dynamite proofs, if you are inclined in that direction.

    IMO the barber series are some of the most fun and challenging sets to chase, all the sets have a number of key coins and semi-key coins that can really be tough when trying to build a set. However, if you are looking for investment puposes only you will want to move to either more desirable dates and mms or you want higher grade coins. Halves above VF are always in high demand and trying to track them down is darn near impossible, for quarters outside of the most common dates, XF/AU is a great place to start for some of the lower mintage ones that don't quite rise to the semi-key status. As for dimes, AU coins all day long outside of semi-key and key dates can be had with relative ease.
