Constantius II - AE2 Obv:– D N CONSTANTIVS P F AVG, Pearl diademed, draped & cuirassed bust right Rev:– FEL TEMP REPARATIO, Helmeted soldier to left, shield on left arm, spearing falling horseman; shield on ground at right. Horseman is bearded and falls forward clutching his horse. his hair is tied in a top-knot. Minted in Constantinople (G | dot | _ //CONSI). Beautiful FH, Martin! Do you think the wavy detail on the shield was deliberate, or some sort of mistake?
It certainly seems deliberate and may have been a whim of the engraver when he was placing the central boss on the shield.

Payday came too late for lol. Great coin Martin! We'll have to watch to see if this shield comes up again on other dies. Some odd patterns have shown up on 2-3 dies that I've seen, while others just once for now. (not mine) One shield I've only seen once, also from Constantinople had a similar pattern to the rump on this one. The price was too high for me :/ Other shields
