Friend of mine asked me about this item, looks really nice but I don't collect them and have no idea what to tell him. What is fair value for this kind of check?
Hopefully Tech will read this and chime in.....he has a massive collection of checks. I know nothing, or maybe less, if that’s possible.
I have quite a few old checks but have never pursued them like coins. These fall into the Ephemera bracket. You might try the forum www.treasurenet.com if you do not get a response here. Railroad checks & stock certificates can bring some nice premiums as well as banks that were short lived and folded early from mismanagement or financial crisis.
I am something of a novice check collector. I would hazard a guess that the gold check might bring around $20, based on what I've seen on eBay. The other has an interesting state revenue attached that would be worth further research.
