Nice Morgans, Nate. What am I, a grading service? Listen, you get one grade from me in each thread, that's it.
That's kind of the whole exercise, Nate. We answer with our grades and learn from our mistakes when the TPG grade is revealed.
All banked. 1st one permanently! Main reason for post was wondering about reslabbing the first. It’s a beauty. Looks like it’s gonna stay rattlin tho
81-S ....63 ...there are few marks, but the 2-3 marks are in focal areas and would likely have resulted in a lower grade in the rattler era 79-S...65...minimal marks, newer holder 78-S...64...another one lowered by one point due to the hit on the cheek ...all 3 are very nice; great finds!
Thanks again for all input, info, and interest. 1881-S is a 65...Thought about some new plastic but you can’t go back the marks at 3 o’clock look like bag marks in hand. The area around 9 detracts the most. Favorite Morgan in my collection appearance-wise. #2 1879-S is 66+ Beautiful coin, yet the cheek shows worse wear than the 81-S #3 1878-S is 64PL photos probably don’t do the second 2 justice
MS65 for the '79-S and MS63 possibly MS64 for the '78-S depending on severe the railroad track is on the cheek. Lighting can make things look worse than they really are.
