Nice! I don't have a Carinus tet, but I do have a sweetly silvered ant I haven't posted much! CARINUS, 283-285 AD, Antoninianus. O: IMP CARINVS P F AVG. Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right. R: GENIVS EXERCITI Genius standing left with patera and cornucopia. KAA in ex, Rome mint. RIC 256. 21 mm, 3.5 g
Sweet! I especially like the Carinus, great eye appeal. And the Nero is a must have. (Not that I have one yet... )
Love those Tets @Mat ! The Carinus one is very nice! And it was made in LA!!! Close to home (oh... wait... LA is that date-thingy the Greeks used... ) Hey, I have a Carinus potin tet also, cool! RI Carinus 282-285 CE BI Potin Tet Alexandria Egypt 19mm Athena Seated holding Nike
Nice Tyche on that Carinus! I've got father and son, and both coins were formerly owned by a fellow CoinTalker EGYPT, Alexandria. Carus undated, but struck apparently struck posthumously by his son Carinus in CE 283/4 tetradrachm, 19 mm, 7.7 gm, 12h Obv: ΘEωKAPωCEB; Laureate head right. Rev: AΦIEPωCIC; lit altar decorated with crossed palms, star in upper left field. Ref: Emmett 3995.2, R2 ex JBGood ex Keith Emmett Collection ex Empire Coins, July 1982 EGYPT, Alexandria. Carinus year 2, CE 283/4, Augustus tetradrachm, 18 mm, 6.2 gm Obv.: AKMAKA PINOCCEB; Laureate, cuirassed bust right. Rev: Elpis standing left, holding flower and clutching hem of robe; across fields L-B Ref: Emmett 4007.2, R1 ex JBGood
Carus' posthumous coins also come in an eagle version (also undated). Carinus is hard to find with clear legends. My obverse is not so hot but has clear ETOYC Γ. I do not have a Numerian yet. Long names with small letters on tiny flans are difficult.
Sweet tets, @Mat ! I don't have a Carinus tet, but do have this ant: Carinus, Augustus AD 283-285 Roman billon Antoninianus; 3.80 g, 21.1 mm, 12 h Lugdunum, AD 283 Obv: IMP C M AVR CARINVS AVG, radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust, right Rev: SAECVLI FELICITAS, emperor in military attire, standing right, holding transverse spear and globe, officina mark D (=4) in right field Refs: RIC 214; Cohen 120; RCV 12354; Hunter 37; Pink, p. 22, series 4.
