I did not, thanks as always for sharing your knowledge! I bought it because it looked like one big ball of original.

Do you see the underlying S ?

I see it coming off the bottom left of the S now- the placement looks a bit different than other examples I've seen.

Thanks, in the midst of a career change so I'll be on hold for some time but lots to gaze at and enjoy for now. Kind of nice to take a break from acquisition and focus on enjoyment of what I have anyway.

I couldn't find a design I liked for the longest time for this slot besides the Buffalo and didn't want to shell out for that one...

Came across this one and I love the design. The feathers have kind of a modern FE thing going on.... I thought the UNC version had a nicer presentation than the proof so I went with that.

The coin reminds me of a visit to Homer, AK- I walked onto the deck of the room I just rented and three feet away a bald eagle was sitting on the railing. Good stuff. :)

.... Braided half cent and the old dollars left to go!

I occasionally see bald eagles here in coastal GA, but all of my pictures of them (when I've managed to snap any at all) have been pretty wretched.

Got one that was a pretty shot of marsh and water, but the swooping eagle in the picture is just a blip.

Nice choice of a modern for your set.

This is one of the moderns that I did purchase due to its design. Besides the buffalo that I also have there aren' many that interest me to add to my collection.

Nice going. I bought a braided half cent not that long ago for under $50. So they can be had. Seated and trade dollars are tougher. I’ve sold several trades under $200 had an absolutely original bug low grade g-4 1874 trade a couple years ago. Most worn one I’ve seen and for $225 or so you can buy a nice one. Seated dollars too. I’ve seen some decent ones under $300. Good luck with it and hope you can complete it soon

Thanks, glad I finally found one. That particular eagle experience happened when phone camera photos looked like etch-a-sketch drawings so I was out of luck there as well.

Nice. Not sure how I hadn't seen it before but the classic look really fits in the album.

    Thanks!

Yeah, that braided half has been a real pain. It sits on this threshold where anything I find under 50 has problems of one kind or another... then to get something solid and nice I'm paying 100 bucks, at which point I look at the seemingly undervalued slabbed coins in MS and I think jeez, why spend a hundred bucks on this XF when I can get a 58-62 for 250? And then since it's not supposed to be slabbed in the first place I end up with nothing. :p

I really like the OP's idea. I went to Wizard supply and picked up a new 7070 for $25 + s/h. I plan to fill it at coin shows, browsing through the ungraded "stuff" at dealer tables. I want circulated to AU for the album. Can't wait to start.

I wish I’d have known. The one I just bought is at pcgs I had $46 in it and it’s a solid problem free au. Last one I had before it was an ogh au 58 that caced and sold pretty quickly. I think I paid $185 and sold at $235 plus my $13.50 cac fee. They’re out there. I’ll keep my eyes open

That’s a good idea. A couple cool ideas would be monster toners that wouldn’t grade like too outrageous or old cleaning. Or a circulated cameo set

    Nice, thanks!

The local shops here don't carry them but I'll keep scouring online.

I'm also actually considering buying some holdered in XF. Only time will tell. There's a Coin Show in Ann Arbor this weekend. I plan to go start the journey.
