Nice addition. Agree that's it's value is a little over melt, but who cares. It's the thrill of having a coin you love in hand, that's priceless.

Why would the value be anything over belt? There are millions of 1964 Kennedy Halves in pristine condition. This coin is borderline AU/BU and can’t be described as anything but common.

So ASE’s should be nothing over melt also? Why are they not the same price as a generic round?
Same principles apply to coins like this imo.
Just not that big of a premium but still deserves a small premium over melt.

If you can get a premium over melt for this coin, good on you. 1964s in particular are common in pristine condition. This coin is average at best. Melt value to me.

ASEs sell for a small premium over melt, but if you go to sell one, expect to receive melt value and nothing more. If you do, again, good on you.

Please show me a source for ase at melt? I’ll back the truck up. Probably half the board would..
Maybe if you sell to a pawn shop or etc.
Your better informed than this mike....

The coin in question is around a $7 coin. Yea it’s stupid common and nothing special but to say it’s value is junk melt is not true. There will always be a small premium attached to US minted silver coins.

@chromerunner ... read my comments again

I said I would buy them at melt. I also said that they typically sell at a small premium over melt.

    Where am I misinformed?

I get my information from the LCS where I work. where do you get your info?

A place to buy them at melt...probably won't find one. Typically melt plus a small premium. But if you go to sell them to anybody other than another collector (dealer, jeweler, ect.) the best you will get is melt. Possibly even a little less.

I agree with you Mike. 1964 silver coins (in all denominations) are super common in pristine condition. People hoarded them and they were made for several years. There really is no premium on these coins unless they are very high grade. Something like this is worth it's melt value. There is nothing wrong with that.

Im going by what it would cost me to buy if I wanted one right now. Not if i go to sell whole sell to someplace...Of course they have to make money on their end.

With US silver being so liquid a simple post or auction listing will result in a small premium sell in no time.

    This was my gripe.

@BoonTheGoon Nice find and im sure you'll enjoy it in your collection. Have fun & Good luck in your future finds.
