Nothing special but thought I would share anyways - always interesting to see coins from different countries! Coins did not seem to popular in China as they have notes in most denominations. First two rows are all from Hong Kong, Third row is from Mainland China, Fourth row is one from Philippines and two from Macau. China is pretty odd as there are some regions that still use notes for practically 1 cent or less. But appearently in major cities, that's not really the case although I wish I could go and confirm it. Or it just might be the mad metal prices that case people to hoard them all up? Thanks for the great pic - by the way, why is a Japanese 10 yen coin in there? There are three Taiwanese coins there too in the third row
That's so funny, obviously I had not even taken the time to really look at them. While in China part of the time I stayed at the executive apartment of one of our suppliers. The project manager is from Ohio and lives in the apartment above where I stayed. He had a whole chest of coins that I went through to pull these out. I grabbed one of everything that was different. In that same chest he had a stack of 50 or so 1 Jiao's and almost as many 5's, I did not get 1 coin in change in Beijing and only a couple in Shenzhen. I kept buying thing in odd amounts trying to get coins and all I would get in return is notes. Thanks for taking a look and for identifying the coins :smile...
