Bottom right has a scratch through the bottom three lines. I wouldn't consider that FBL at all. I like the toning though :)

    Amazing coin!
I think you stand a better chance @ PCGS
    For the 66FBL

That is an unfortunate hit. Being the owner of the coin I would be hopefully optimistic that the graders would see past that if I ever sent it in.

Yes I agree on that. However, I far prefer ngc for my Franklins. So if I were to ever send this in it would be to NGC.

To be fair, I'm not at all fluent on what is considered a FBL. I alway assumed that the lines had to be all the way across with no scratches. Kind of like full step Jeffersons.

Any mark that fully breaks any of the lines is supposed to disqualify the coin from FBL. Also, just to the left of the crack on the upper set, the lines are never fully complete so there is some leniency there. But just how much leniency depends on the the day.
This particular coin has more weakness in that area than I’d typically like to see. However, I have seen weaker sets of lines receive FBL from both NGC and PCGS.

Very nice Franklin, but not FBL

Outstanding original toning, 66 all day long, but FBL is very questionable. Sadly :shy:

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

The mark on the bottom set *should* disqualify it from FBL at PCGS. And the top set of lines are not complete on the left, which rules out NGC. This is a really attractive coin, but there are enough marks that I think it grades at 65, no FBL.

Maybe the FBL label, but not sure about MS66. franklin halves do get a lot of contact marks however.
