Hi all, This weekend is the 2018 NYINC Show. I will be there Saturday morning and hang out until I reach my max on money I am willing to spend. I'm doing some NGC submissions, searching for some world coins and maybe purchase a nice Ancient Here is the website I want to share about the show with all of the information - http://www.nyinc.info/ Maybe we can meet to take a picture together and post on CoinTalk! See you then!
I'll be hanging around today. Headed to the top floor gym first, then breakfast, and then will wander on down. Did a lot of bourse walking yesterday and gave my checkbook too much of a workout! I was considering an NGC submission, but not sure if I really want to bother. There were a few PCGS board members running around too--not sure if you hang out there much.
Cool.. If you or any other member see this guy.. Say hello! I am wearing a black vest over a grey long sleeve shirt and light blue jeans.
After 2 and a half hours.. I'm done. Threads to be posted tonight on my purchases @Nathan401 your coin is on its way!
I went last year. About the same atmosphere. Nice dealers. It was a great experience seeing all the ancients even though I didn't pick any up. Stuck to world coins. I have a nice Mint Error to post tonight.
Gotcha, thanks! My wife and I love NYC. In fact, I popped the question to her in St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Need to get back there. . . It’s been a few years. Hope you did well at the show.
So far I have had a very good time at the show. I have seen some really great coins and talked to some very interesting people. A coin show of this nature is a great place to be. I hope I will be able to do it again
A bit late now, but I don't think I saw you. My tell this time was a purple purse, but that changes by the show. I'm sure I walked by a lot of forum people though I did identify and chat with several I'd figured out from PCGS. Just for fun (as I leave tomorrow) I sat in live on the currently running Stacks auction this evening. Watched an interesting and featured Italian coin go for 150K (180K with the juice) with a round of applause as a live bidder and a phone bidder duked it out hard. I was really there to see how a Japanese coin went a few lots later, it was almost anticlimactic at about twice estimates and $40K ($48K)! I might see if I can wander back in and watch the Yap stone sell. I 'previewed' it just to say I've seen one...and even touched it. Personally the show felt pretty busy to me. I did the Waldorf version once over a decade ago (squeezed in between family trip stuff). Otherwise I've been to Baltimore several times to compare. The aisles were tighter, but even so, it was pretty active even accounting for the layout. Very few dead spots. Had some interesting conversations, saw some folks, bought a few cool coins but didn't get any awesome medals like I'd hoped. Had a great time checking out ancients. I feel them pulling me ever closer, and it was great to see so many in one place to get a better feel for how I might want to approach them. Fantastic venue for that!
I saw one guy who's name was Ed Snible.. I know he is a member here. But he looked preoccupied.. Didn't bother him.
Can you link to the lot? I've seen one of these in person, but it was a display. I'm not sure I've seen one of these sold. Was it a big one?
@physics-fan3.14 Here's the link, and it has the dimensions. Neat write up. https://auctions.stacksbowers.com/lots/view/3-96F3I The auction previews were the best part. I got to hold all kind of rarities just by asking for the box they were in. Well, the Yap wasn't in a box, but on a table. Fun!
