Would a misaligned die caused this kind of damage to the date. Or is it PMD thanks for any help. Dave

It looks like it was a die that had worked overtime and should have been retired about 50,000 strike earlier. The area between the date gets blurred a bit, and when you add some circulation along with that, this is what you get.
Well at first glance I thought it was a 1969 then I did a little research and from my understanding in 1969 they only made proof dimes. If I understood that right thanks for the help. Dave
