Morgandude11 As long as it's Silver, I'm listening

I would guess otherwise. I think it was NOT submitted for an upgrade, as it would have gotten the plus at the minimum.

The proper strategy would be to go NGC. If not the 65, and I am fairly certain it is a 65, it would almost definitely get get the +, or *, or possibly both.

Thanks for your opinions. . . Very much appreciated!

Once I have the coin in-hand, I’ll attempt to post more pictures (but I’d guess the seller’s pictures are clearer than any I’ll take☹️).

I'd be very interested to see additional photos of this coin.

The reason behind my assessment of an MS64 grade:

Eye Appeal - Positive. The coin seems to have nice flash, good frost, and nothing horribly distracting. The bit of yellow patina is OK in my book, but a slight negative when it comes to pricing in the market. CAC and collectors don't see eye-to-eye on this point at all. A small carbon spot near the three hills on the reverse is a slight detractor. A small water spot on the right reverse below the text is a slight detractor.

Luster - Postive. Looks quite good, but is always hard to tell from a photo. Usually coins with this much frost have a nice look.

Strike - Better than average for a 24-S. A bit soft, but they all are.

Surface preservation - Here, the photos make it very tricky. The reverse is certainly gem quality, making note of two small hits on the eagle and some superficial abrasions to the upper, left field. The obverse is a bit more problematic, and is the grade-limiting feature of this coin, IMO. The cheek shows lots of chatter. Some might be inconsequential luster breaks, but many are certainly hits. The neck has at least three cuts and the neck truncation shows a heavy abrasion. Neither the left nor right fields are clean. All of this is perfectly acceptable at 64, but when you pay for a gem coin, you shouldn't have this many distractions. I really think the over-saturation and lack of contrast is making it hard to distinguish hits from luster breaks, but I see the coin as a 64 obverse, 65+ reverse, resulting in a 64, possibly 64+ grade.

For comparison, here is one I used to own. Not perfect, but very nice. Still, not a coin I think would be likely to upgrade to 65. It lives in a PCGS MS64+ CAC holder.

My opinion is it’s a high end 64. A + a definite possibility. But with the huge price jump I don’t see it being a 65 pcgs has. Been very conservative lately and I don’t see a 65 on it. As to ngc it’s been a few months since I sent them anything and I send nearly all my Morgan and peace dollars to pcgs unless they’re monster toners and pcgs does their typical qc bs and ngc has the * designation. I’d keep it in the pcgs holder and try an upgrade maybe is all. I pretty much agree with the grade too as did cac

While I’m at it, your opinions about whether this ‘21 would CAC?

Tough to tell from the pics. It has tons of luster which a lot of 21s don’t. I’d say 50/50
