Any premium for 1857 FEC possible DDO on date?

    Yeah shelf doubling. No actual premium but it does add interest, which folks will.sometimes pay for...

    Can't have a DDO on the date, the date wasn't part of the die when it was created. could be MD or RPD. I can't tell which from the image.

    Possible repunched date, but I can't tell from the pictures. I'll check my Snow book tonight to see if that's a possibility. With a spread like that, strike doubling would tend to be visible elsewhere, too, although there aren't any other design elements close to the date.

    True ddo's on fec the eye of the eagle is the pick up point more so then other devices.

    I don't see any repunched dates in Snow that match the subject coin, so I'm going to say machine doubling.
