I was wondering if this is considered a die break or would it be something else. I looked on cud on coins and couldn’t find anything like it. Maybe I looked on wrong site like to get your opinion. Thanks in advance Dave
It is a Die Crack. A very nice one. The Crack forms on the Die and the metal from the blank Planchet flows into the crack when struck. But they are common and seen on different areas of coins. Not all are listed.
Even though the value is minimal, the coin is in decent condition so I would be tempted to put it in a 2x2. I think the crack is interesting. Just my opinion.
Yeah I decided to do that because in hand it has a real nice crack in it the picture doesn't show. Appreciate all the comments thank you guys.
By all means save it. Nothing to lose by saving a lone cent from the ravages of time and future rot in circulation. Cud On Coins would not be the place to go though. You would have to pay $3.00 dollars plus shipping to and from just to be told what was said above. Like said above it is a minor error and only worth something to the keeper.
Yeah it doesn't make much sense to throw away good money does it. I do appreciate all the information you guys have provided for me thank you. Dave
I would save it, as you only have 1 cent into it. A hundred dollar bill with a very minimal premium, I would spend.
