    Hi, all.

I started getting interested in all things "coinage" a year ago or so, but this is a first for me and I'm interested in being educated on what happened with this little guy. I set up an account here just to ask about this quarter.

Is this a fake/slug or what? I've yet to see anything like this being a newbie. And, if so, how do they even do this? lol Any input would be much appreciated.

Thanks much! I hope to become a regular member of this community as I learn more and more!

What exactly do you see that makes you think it's unusual or fake? I'm not seeing anything in particular except the edge is a bit more defined. Nothing stands out to me beyond circulation.

I see what looks like a groove in the edge of your coin. Does the groove go all the way around it?

This coin has spent some time in an acid bath. The nickel portion has only reacted minimally whereas the copper core has reacted significantly leaving a groove around the edge where the copper was disolved.

More Better images if the edge will show that it is a Partial Collar Strike.

Soaked in acid. Possibly even Coca Cola.
