Hi all, Welcome to my 12,000 like celebration thread! Thank you @Bman33 for that like! In this thread I want to post a normal and graded Susan B. Anthony Dollar. Please feel free to post your SBA's no matter what grade. Mint Errors and varieties also welcome! From my collection -
I've got a 4" binder full of SBA's but have never really pursued them. They are all in 2X2's and all B.U. Never checked for anything special but the winter months might change this. Thanks for bringing this to the front for me.
Mostly because I'm still going through my sisters 5 gallon jug of cents and about 10 bank boxes of 2009 Lincoln cents, which I switch off on every now and then so as not to totally bore myself.
All I've got are these prooflike examples.... And yes, the reverse of the 80D displays full deep cameo contrast. It's like nothing you've ever seen before.
I like Susies, despite all of the criticism they receive (much of which seems to come from people not finding SBA "pretty" enough). They were obviously not financially successful, probably for similar reasons that the twenty cent pieces failed back in the 1870s. Much like that earlier foible by the mint, SBAs now make up a fascinating history of twentieth century coinage due mostly to their failure in the marketplace. Plus, it was the first US circulating coin to feature a real historical woman rather than an idealization or an allegory. I have avoided acquiring the more expensive type 2s because they seem very overpriced and not interesting enough to warrant the expense - in my opinion, of course.
I found about 100 of these crh when purchasing $1000 boxes few years back when I started roll hunting. I liked the series as I was newbie and you could collect the series type 1 and 2 fairly easy.
I also found in my dads collection 10 type 2 mint sets. Sent 5 to ngc for grading and all came back pf 69 uc. I have 5 type 2 sets still in original blue mint boxes. My Dad received them on 12/31/1979. Not sure what to do with these . Also very new to posting questions or replies and have no clue how to take photos for your thread so I must apologize for jumping in here.
Here is a few of mine. For your viewing pleasure. Near date!! clipped planchet!! misaligned die!!! thanks for looking.
