@Barbermania the reference to a transitional die, for 88' and 88'D is mostly in the FG, see attached photo from cherry pickers guide. It seems that since volume 5 they have defined the variety a lot better. The known years and MM are 88', 88'D, 98', 99', and 2000. I remind you that cpg says that it is a proof reverse, which on variety vista it says that it is a reverse of 89. Below is two 88's one is a D, and an 89'. Can you tell the difference? All three show a Wide AM, there is quite a small difference from my eyes on whether or not the AM should be considered in the PUP. I thought I would send you the links from Variety Vista. Philly used 7 different rdv-006 dies for the variety. http://varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/1988PRDV0061.htm And Denver used 3 RDV-006 Dies http://varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/1988DRDV0061.htm
Once you match it to a certain die, the valuated prices are on variety vista. That doesn't mean that you will get that price. Then you need to get it certified by a TPG. top three preferred. ANACS is very good at attributing variety's but their slabs do not fetch the kind of money NGC and PCGS do. That blury photo above looks like a RDV-006 but the photos aren't definitive.
That is your choice, I have never sent a coin to be graded. You would have to go to their website and see what they charge, and label as far as variety's go.
Ok and what about the cent it's self where do you think it would grade? That's right I'm putting you on the spot I know.
It is impossible to tell from your photos, the best thing is to start to learn to grade, it takes a while and a lot of coins looked at in hand to figure it out.
Well from looking at variety vista's graph I think it will be RDV-006 stage A. My cent does not have any die clashes on it anywhere that I can see and I'm using a microscope at 100 X's.
Die 5 stage A. But I'm not sure, that's just the way I see it from thier pics and info. TY for giving me the link. And from what I can tell they do not have a 1988 RDV as nice as the one I have. Mine is very nice and still has most all of it's luster and it should grade about MS 64 maybe 65
