physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Are you limited to these three coins, or are there other options? What are you trying to accomplish (do these add to a set you are building?, or do you just like these designs?, etc.)

Each of these three coins has concerns, so I'll tell you what I'm seeing:

1831 - the light spots on the obverse are odd. The coin has been dipped, and is retoning in a strange pattern. This hurts the eye appeal, but the luster appears strong. I'm also concerned about the long vertical line in front of Liberty's face. Is that a scratch? If so, avoid this coin like the plague.

1839 - This appears to be a very attractive coin. I'm concerned about the top of the reverse, from the D to the eagle's beak. That appears to be a scratch or damage of some sort, from the pictures. If so, again, this coin should be avoided. If it is just a weird toning spot, you have to decide if that's something you want or not.

Barber: The barber is too out of focus to grade accurately. Can you take better pictures? I know some people love the old holders because they think they can upgrade them, but by this point that is difficult. Most coins that would have been potential upgrades have been upgraded. I'd expect that this coin would probably be a 62.

So, in summary - figure out your purpose for buying the coin, figure out what you are looking for in the coin, and figure out which coin accomplishes your goals.

These are just 3 coins that caught my eye and were in the same general price range. I've got kind of a honey hole for first generation slabs. This is an older gentleman that decided to open a small shop with his private collection. He purchased the barber in 1991 and has been in his collection ever since. Otherwise, I hear what you're saying about upgrade possibilities. Thank you for the response! Much appreciated!!

I slept on it and went back today with my decision. I decided to go with the majority and got this fine fella:

I thiyou made the right decision. Nice being an o mint and not a 1892. I think In today’s market it’s a 63. I love old holders. I’d send it to cac not crack it out though. I liked the reeded edge too and think the 1832 has been dipped or cleaned And Is better to stay away from. Me it would have been a tough decision as the barber would be good for resale but I don’t care for white coins personally. I liked the 1839 quite a bit as well

I would totally do that but their website says that they aren't accepting memberships anymore. So, how do I send them something to be evaluated?

I voted for the Bust, 1831, but on second thought that Barber is the one!
