Both of those coins appear open to me. The 3 in this photo is much more closed than yours.

Now in the comparison photo above, both the top and bottom ends of the 3 are very bulbous.
The last picture you posted looks like the closed 3, but with the open 3 characteristic of only one bulbous end (the bottom) and the top piece which is similar to the open 3. Not trying to be difficult, this one does look more closed. But the 3 does not match the closed 3 from the comparison photo.

I was just referring to the top end part of the 3 in your closed coin.

That’s one of mine. I own another toner, but don’t have pics. Why can’t we post our silver 3c pieces too? Unfair :)

Is 1865 the king for clashed dies in this series?

I can see the 1865 lll becoming very popular like the 38 D Buffalo did here on CT.
Clashes, die cracks, two, mpd....and for the most part reasonable cost wise....:shifty:

Here's my 1865; no clash marks on it (excuse my pictures in this thread. I'm trying to do my best with my smartphone). IMAG1749_1.jpg IMAG1750_1.jpg
