Well I have had a few days off and am back to my new purchases in 2018. The first on the list is ex SteveX6 and one that he used to rib me about knowing that it was a symbol pair that I didn't have. Every time I added a new pair he would ask "no dog-serpent example yet?" and I would smile ad wait patiently for an example to come my way. I didn't expect it to be his. Now I will smile and think of Steve whenever I look at this coin. I can only wish him well with everything that he is going through. I did raise a glass to him this Christmas.

    L Papius Denarius Serratus

Obv:– Head of Juno Sospita right, wearing goat skin tied under chin. Behind head, coiled serpent.
Rev:– Gryphon running right; in ex., L. PAPI.; in field, dog
Minted in Rome from B.C. 79.
    Reference(s) – RSC Papia 1. RRC 384/1. RCTV 311.
Symbol variety – RRC 122 Babelon 9. BMCRR unknown. CNR unknown

    ex SteveX6 collection

I am VERY glad you got that one Martin! I know you have a great collection of these, and this was one you had mentioned. I DID toy with it, but other coins of his took a little more precedence... Congrats! Went to the best collector for it.

Only one that I have, and it is purdy basic:

I'm glad you picked it up, Martin. One of many in his collection that resulted in Steve-inspired purchases for me.
