Quick question...I'm going to sell one of my Silver Eagle full set no proofs just BU 86-2017 (31) coins....What should I expect for offers. This is my first major show so I'm excited...I got to say living in the Tampa area I have not seen one advertisement promoting the show.
Expect to have to shop it around a fair bit. Look for this: a dealer who handles similar material, but seems to presently have "holes" in his stock that your pieces will help him fill. That is always the best place to sell. Most of all, enjoy. FUN is one of the best of ALL shows, even better than many ANA's.
Thanks Kurt...you are such an asset to this site....I guess shopping it around will get me to meet many collectors. Oh by the way it was 38 in Tampa this AM
You were right, it's 31 because only Dan Carr did a 2009. OOps, misread your original post. You said NO proofs. I read it as proofs. 32 it is. A shame. I might have wanted to pick off a couple of recent proofs I failed to pick up. I'm more concentrating on the burnished W non-proofs lately.
Me too I'm not selling my proofs...Heres something I haven't done in a while....I'm waiting for my car to get warm
You will get offers of a few percentage points below melt. Stay strong; don't fall for it. If they have a little rim toning, but nothing gaudy, so much the better.
I've seen them advertised retail at around $900 - judging by Blue book prices, you might be offered around $600 - $650, depending on how nice the key date 1996 is. You may get more on eBay (avg. selling price = $800) - good luck
Just to let you guys know I didn't sell.....Kurt and Juris were right. Most dealers just said no they r not buying. Found one dealer that would give me melt but no premium for 96...A little disheartened how most dealers seemed to be put off I even asked....No more buying Eagles for me.....If anyone has any questions about show I will try to answer....I guess I'm not a coin show type person I found it overwhelming. I'm going to go again with nothing to sell maybe that will make my experience better.
Is the US Mint booth operating? Are NGC and/or PCGS offering show labels? Advice: Decompress by looking through the list of talks and relax and go take one in. Your feet will appreciate the break. I LOVE the typical major show "vibe". It keeps my blood pumping.
yes Kurt all three are there...Free parking is available across the street I made a mistake going with something to sell that's why Ill go back with friends and have a good time. I did get involved in a pushing incident. I was standing looking at a display and a guy pushed me out of the way...bad move. The funny part he was a little guy and I'm not...he figured out fast it was a bad move I actually thought he was a pick pocket
Sell it on eBay you’ll do a lot better. Show dealers just want to buy things they can sell at the show or get super cheap or higher end stuff on the cheap.
I started to understand that the dealers are there to sell and not buy bullion coins..Maybe the last day of show would be better.
If there was a pure billion dealer they may give you an offer but usually a shows you won’t like most if not all offers. If you wanted to sell in person a local store would probably be more open to it, problem is most of them can get bullion cheap from their sources so they don’t want to pay any premium.
Yup, they want something they can "turn" without ever packing it up and taking it home, if they possibly can. Remember, F.U.N. is a high-ticket table show. Prices at high-ticket shows tend to have higher buy/sell spreads.
