I have some bad news to deliver today, Steve (National Dealer) has chosen to resign from Coin Talk. I wanted to take this opportunity to give him a public Thank You for his substantial contributions here at Coin Talk and to coin collecting in general.

I'm sure that many of you will agree that Steve has been one of the most helpful people here at Coin Talk during 2004. He was always very generous with his advice, and comments. Always helpful to everyone, from newbie collectors with simple questions we've all heard a million times to participating in discussions of the most complex numismatic questions.

Much to my surprise, I received an email from Steve a couple days ago in which he told me he no longer wished to continue at Coin Talk. Though he has chosen to not tell me why, I wish him well, and invite all of you to join me in giving the best wishes to him in whatever endeavour he chooses to pursue. If it was anything I personally said, or did, to make you leave us, please accept my apology. If anyone can explain to me why Steve left, I'd like to hear from you.

I have heard from a couple of sources a rumour about his being banned. No, he is not banned. He has chosen to withdraw from the community. Coin Talk is provided as a free platform for everyone to discuss all topics relating to coin collecting. Steve is welcome to rejoin us at anytime he find suitable. The only reason I've ever banned anyone here is for cursing other members and blatant spamming. Steve fits neither of those categories.

Thank you again Steve, and may 2005 bring you nothing but happiness and prosperity. May God be with you.

    This is terrible news.
I, for one, will miss his insight, knowledge, and above all else his love of the hobby. I sincerely hope that whatever casued him to depart will correct itself in 2005 and bring him back to us and this forum.
Personlly speaking, I consider him a dear friend...professionally speaking, he's one of the 'good guys' out there. Steve, you are the kind of man in this hobby that all others should be measured against. Your presence will be sorely missed...here's hoping that your absence will be brief.

Steve brought a wealth of knowledge to this forum that will be sorely missed. It is my priviledge and pleasure to be able to call him friend and colleague. I share the sentiments of those here and hope that circumstances will allow for him to return to this forum some day.

I was surprised at how upset I was at this news. It's a measure of the feeling that all of us here have for Steve. I can only hope that he will miss us as much as we miss him and come back.

Sad. You have been consistantly good with your feedback. I've only been here a month or so, but I quickly realized that if I wanted to get to the bottom line of any thread I've visited, I need simply to scroll down to see what ND said. Lots of good comments, humor, and no BS. I'll still be referencing your comments after you've left.

    wow

Not good at all, Steve is willing to give advice freely, and is a knowledgable man. I just hope it's not because of any of the members. I am involved with quite a few different subject forums and some pretty stupid things happen sometimes.

    Regards Tony

In the short time I have been a forum member, I learned how valuable Steve and his information is to members.

I hope he returns soon, and misunderstandings are corrected and set aside.

    :)

NationalDealer has been a great asset to this forum and is very knowledgeable. He'll be sorely missed until his return. It is fortunate that there are so many new active members to ease the transition.

    Thanks Steve. Best Wishes.

National Dealer is a legend here and as in all aspects of life, hero's are not only allowed to return but are always welcomed with open arms and broad smiles. I hope to read ND's posts again whenever that again may be.

I've been a lurker here for a while but wanted to post. I think one ND's last posts is fairly telling.

    http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?p=28978#post28978

The recent activity here since the Coin World forums have closed may have changed things too much for his liking. However, a little extra chatter isn't necessarily a bad thing. I doubt the character of Cointalk will change substantially.

ND, count my voice as one of many others that find you to be very wise and very important to Cointalk.
