Like every other coin nerd, I feel that some lesson can be taught by using a coin an example to teach my son something about the value of money. Yes, I’ve officially turned into my old man and have been running kids off of my lawn all day, but I digress. I spent all of the day after Christmas driving my kid all around town to buy some little figurines (I called them dolls to mess with him) for his video game. Don’t ask me what they do, I have no idea. But I finally asked him how much they were after he bought about ten of them and he said that they were about twenty bucks each. I exclaimed, Do you know how nice a coin I could get for twenty bucks!? He rolled his eyes, got out of the car and went into the next store. Well, I had my phone and an eBay app, so I picked up this little beauty for twenty bucks. It needs a bit of funk cleaned off of it, but an otherwise decent enough 180 year old coin for twenty bucks. I showed him the images and we needed to pick up his eyes off of the floor he rolled them so hard. Moral of the story is that he learned nothing, I learned that I’ve turned into my old man, and that it takes little to find an excuse to get a new piece for the collection.

I haven’t looked into it yet, but if anyone would care to attribute it, that’d be nice too. 81F39ABE-C600-4E04-B4A6-3A62226CD060.jpeg F3DFDD61-1E5E-497E-98B1-30E28656439E.jpeg
