Asked for halves today at one of my new banks. They had a box but uncharacteristically I only bought $100. Just went through them now and found:
    (1) 42 Walker
    (1) 64
    (4) 67
    (4) 68
    (3) 69
    (1) 74-D DDO
Going back tomorrow for the rest of the box and any other boxes they might have!!!

Uncirculated is a measure of wear, and there are ten levels, from MS 60 to MS70.
Long ago, the mint used to store and transport loose silver dollars in canvas bags, and they would ding each other up. It was called "bag marks"
    Thus, ten levels of uncirculated

Found these hunting through $40 of car wash quarters plus about 5 bicentennial’s and a handful of pre ‘70’s (no silver) 1C5D42CA-6312-47CE-AA14-B8A5F7DB7798.jpeg C958060D-A48F-4FF6-ADDE-17D7A95D9757.jpeg FFB0C9F3-98E7-481D-98C3-89C1A92F7573.jpeg

So these aren't mine but my son's. He is 6 and he caught the CRH'ing bug this week when Santa brought him some quarter books. He wanted to get some cents to look for wheats and pulled these two out of $10 worth of MWR. I gotta say, I'm a bit jealous haha.

I gotta get by Hobby Lobby and get some more flips.
Just on a whim I pulled a couple copper rolls I had marked as 1. Pulled several 4 and even 5 out of the rolls.
I'm going to go down through the 2s and see what I can dig out.

Finished the last box of cents for the year. Only 8 wheats but found some fun stuff including 3 beautiful 59D's (the picture doesn't do them justice), a 1942 KGVI Canadian Cent, A pretty extreme grease filled die 1991, and a 1918 LWC that will be 100 years old in just a few hours :)

Also, managed to get a somewhat decent picture of a toned 1972D Half from this week's boxes.
The obverse has beautiful rainbow toning all around and the reverse has a nice yellow/blue that was hard to get a picture of. 29DEC17 72D Toned Half.jpg

Congrats to everyone that scored silver their last week of the year, Unfortunately my prediction was 100% on spot.My last four boxes for the year were all skunks, and for the first time I ended the year with a 12 box skunk streak, In 2017 I searched $294,410 worth of halves, that is $21,800 more than last year. I found 182-90%ers and 712-40%ers. I found 17 more 90%ers than I did last year and 60 less 40%ers than last year. I started in 2013 when silver ended at $19.36 an ounce and it ended this year at 16.91 an ounce. So from 2013 end year price I am down $2,534.07. Which means if silver would have been up this year at 19.36 I would have found over $20,000 worth of silver. Now I am just over $17,500. Not too bad for a part time hobby. Can't wait to hear about everyone else's stats for the year. May you all have a Wonderful New Year! May God Bless everyone in the New Year!

Cheaper to purchase them on line. Get much more for your money!

I am trying to get rolls of halves. My bank doesn't carry them and wont order them. Ill ask my dad to ask his bank. I did find a 1906 Indian Head penny in a roll of pennies once at work. I quickly grabbed that up.

My bank has a "coin counter" which allows customers to pour in their change and put the amount in their account. The machine separates coins by denomination. I simply ask to buy the bag with half dollars, and search it for silver. Got a few that way.

Going back through copper rolls. Had one I marked REALLY nice and one MIGHTY nice. Together they supplied a 4 and a 3.
Really worse than the ones marked 1.

As to halves. Really can't afford a box. Pretty sure any bank I have easy access to doesn't do halves. I did get a few 40% halves from the second bank in town but they haven't mentioned them lately.

Don't yet know if Trish will buy my box of pennies on Wednesday. It's not even an official penny box.
But it will get them to the store or our bank.

And to think there are only 51 more Mondays to go in 2018.

Had to wait until this morning to buy what I believe is the remaining $400 of the same box, plus an additional box of halves. Hopefully all from the same batch of silver! I have a full day of work today plus a church function tonight so it may be a few days before I post my results.

Quick update - The remaining $400 partial box had 7 enders including a double ender with a Franklin on one end and a Kennedy on the other end! The additional box was from a completely different batch. They were Loomis as well, but yellow wrappers instead of the gold wrappers. No enders, maybe I'll still find a silver or two in that box.......

Made another 6 roll out of a couple of others.

It's rather difficult to find crisp obverse and reverse with no blemishes or dings. But i scraped up 50 of them.

A decent start to the New Year!

    20180102_211732.jpg

4 Bennies, 1 '64, 18 40%ers and two dimes. One of the dimes must have been in salt water....it is corroded so bad it is half the thickness of a normal dime.

    Cool...my first half dime CRHing!

First box of halves for the year:
    1 - 64
    4 - 40%

    Not a bad start...

So my bank did not order my two boxes of halves last week....I picked up two boxes of dimes instead...both skunks...I find dime boxes run at about a 40% skunk rate here...and so far I've only had two boxes with multiples (2) but at least you can find silver if you want to be persistent. I went by my bank yesterday and asked if they ordered the two boxes for this week. They apologized for last week and confirmed I would have two boxes waiting on Friday morning. This bank produces better from the teller trays than the boxes. I have pulled 2 walkers, 2 bens and several 40's from the trays while picking up the boxes. It usually is better at the end of the month.

The nice wide and centered rims on the 1918 make me think of a proof. Was such an animal available back then?
