It is the way they looked towards the ends of the wheat series. What does the reverse look like? Edit:Wheat series?
a lot of the late 60s just didnt show the details as well, I would say it circulated, but not buffered, or polished.
Looks like a weak strike from an over worked die. Still a nice looking coin for being 50 some years old .
All of the cents struck in this era have that worn weakly/struck appearance. The master hub used to make the dies was worn down. They didn't make a new one until '69. When they did finally make the new hub, they changed the design by moving the features slightly further from the rim and widened them slightly so that they were clearer.
Hey everyone Happy New Year, well I had a little extra time on my hands and was wondering if you all would give me some feedback I found this 2001 D dime and it looks a little off to me and the w in we trust is a little heavy to me. can I get some comments ....thanks in advance....
By the way your dime is probably suffering from wear and tear, PMD. Although, as the die wears out, letters start to become deformed.
Oh its no dime piece .....lol, no doubt but the only reason I ask is to kinda get an idea as if I'm on the right track to kinda noticing defects and flaws since I'm new to this and all.Thank you for your comments.
Your Dime looks like thousands of other Dimes I have ever seen. Circulation wear and tear. Happy new year to you also!
