Get coins put in plastic and make TV show and sell. Maybe make up some ebay auction with good lines about how rare coins is, how you kids starve, and dog run away.

    No, you better not.:smile

I don't see the huge turnaround you're looking for but I could almost go along with that.

Pool some money, put it in good hands of someone that knows what to look for. Course we'd have to chip in for that person's efforts.

    Not bad Ruben,

Thanks for the comment. I am starting to think he wasnt even serious. At first, I thought he was serious, just really over optimistic. Well, my plan wouldnt work anyway because he wouldnt be able to get an unlimited amount of halfs and on second thought I am not sure he could find a 1964 or earlier as often as I was predicting. I was saying 1 out of every 3 1/2 rolls, when its probably more like 1 in 10 rolls. Still, could make a decent amount doing that, just dont think he could turn 1000 into 10000 so quickly.

    I'd be in for that.

and we could get the same % that we put in.

    So if I put in 10$ out of 200$ - 5%.
and we sold it for 600$ - then I would get 5% of 600, or $30.

    it could be fun :kewl:

Of course there would be a ton of variables. Need someone trustworthy and knowledgeable. Might not see a profit for a few months.
The handler would have to be compensated. This I know from selling a collection for a friend years ago.

If we were ever to pull this off you'd need a lot "contributions". Higher the pot the better the buying power. Walk into a coin shop or show and flash $500 and see what happens. Walk into same and flash $5000 and see what happens.
Prices begin to drop to get the 5 grand.

An interesting "longer term lower yield" proposition.

    What do you think Ruben?

After all you did start this thread.

It can be done but the problem is locating enough deals to complete your goal. I have turned $ 30 bucks into $300 bucks in a few weeks a few times but I search very hard and rarely come across these kind of deals. So 6 weeks is a very big hurdle for that kind of return probably even 6 years is tough.

plane ticket/comp'ed room in Las Vegas--$200
One night in Strip Club -- $150
Paying a bum to help you find your way back to your room -- $50
    Dinner and a show-- $100
1 spin on the roulette wheel with remaining $500 on one number with 35:1 odds -- $17,500
Overall net of $17,000, nice hang over with great stories for your friends, and all done over a weekend, not six weeks.
If that's not an option, buy one of the 200,000 plus houses going into foreclosure every month during a short sale (Banks are willing to sell under what the mortgage was, taking the lesser of two evils: lose a little money to get a majority of their money back rather than lose more money as it sits on the market) Therefore, already equity in the home, although not much, but rent the house out immediately and have someone else pay your mortgage. Once the market goes up slightly, whenever that is, sell and pocket the profit. In all honesty, I have 2 condos that I bought for $250,000 in 2004. They went up to almost $400,000 in 2006 but have dropped back down. I could care less right now because I pay $0 out of pocket, rent covers the mortgage and condo fees. Long-term retirement plan, but could sell both now and make about $80K to $100K. Yeah, the boom is over but no one can afford houses with all of the teaser mortgages having tanked and rising interest rates. So what's the alternative? Rent, Rent, Rent. There's still plenty of money to be made in real estate. Good luck whatever you decide to do. I collect coins as a hobby and have been told by many experienced people in here that it is probably the worst investment you can make. But then again, opinions are like...well, you know. Remember too, 74% of statistics are made up on the spot ;-)
