1946 S Wheat Penny....

    Hello everybody, I hope the holidays were splendid. My roommates grandmother recently died and her belongings had a Lincoln Head Cent Collection starting at 1941. It's not complete and for the most part their condition is not great. Anyway, I found this one interesting.

    What caused this circular dent on the /protrusion on reverse?

    Considering the bulge on the reverse, I would guess it was hit with a punch. Doubt it came from the Mint like that.
