Two heads. Continue with same theme.

(I'm sure I've posted this one before, but oh well.)

Hope I can get it in a straight-graded holder at NGC soon, but that might not happen. PCGS is probably right about the mount removal. Oh well. Regardless of the plastic grade, I just love this coin, its design, and the toning.

Belgium (Brabant): gold florin (Carolus d’or) of Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, ca. 1521-1545

(PCGS Genuine; VF details, "mount removed", en route to NGC soon, as of December, 2017)

    Another double-headed eagle.

Now let's switch to coins showing a globus cruciger. That's the little orb with the cross on top of it, seen in the talon of the eagle on the right side of the Russian coin here, and also being held by the emperor Charles V in the gold coin I posted above.

That sounds pretty obscure for a theme, but there are quite a few shown on coins.

I never knew it was called a "globus cruciger" until I bought that Brabant florin. I always just called it an "orb".

If you don't have a globus cruciger, you may just post a plain old globe, but let's try for some with the cross on top of them.

I just wanted to use "globus cruciger" in a sentence. This is probably the only chance I'll get. :p

Haven't found any Globus cruciger, but turned up a couple of Brazilian odds with orbs:

A double florin and a half crown....PaddyB might like these? Seem to have the British version of the Globus Cruciger in abundance. 1887 GB 2 florin obv.JPG 1887 GB 2 florin rev.JPG 1887 GB half cr obv.JPG 1887 GB half cr rev.JPG
