As a Noob.. I'm curious what makes this coin so special? Is it the "POP" in the title?

PCGS has only graded 31 of them that high. NGC = none.

Its MS-68, which is really good condition. I think "POP 31" means that pcgs has graded 31 in MS-68.

I'd be willing to bet the reason the pop on certification is so low is because, why on earth would anyone wast money sending this coin in to be certified? Chances are there are a few hundred million out there in bank rolls that are just as nice.

I never cease to be amazed at what people will buy.

    greg:
It is becasue of the condition census.
People are putting together 'best known' sets.
Especially for PCGS and that drives up the prices to silly levels.
I am just waiting for the fall in the registry sets prices.

Stay with scarce or better date coins.

    THAT IS RIDICULOUS............

    1. That coin has NO history so far.
    2. You could buy a proof for way less, and it would look better
    3. It's ugly and slabbed
    4. You could buy any other coin in that condition for maybe twice the price of the standard uncirculated-so maybe 2 cents for that coin ?
