Hi, i know this has nothing to do with coins but could someone help me with what the writing says on this letter it says London at the bottom but cant quite work out what the name of the street is which is the words above, the letter is a pre stamp letter thanks
I'm having trouble with the street name, but the addressee seems to be "H. Hyndman Esq.". Is it possible that it's addressed to this person: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Hyndman If so, researching his biography might give you an idea of the street address.
It's N2 (Number 2) Fludyer Street, where Hyndman lived. https://books.google.com/books?id=930dAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA173&lpg=PA173&dq=H. Hyndman, Esq london&source=bl&ots=x4n8eStIUy&sig=0AEd04fKiJFSGrglJACIRGBMs2o&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjn36m7wK3YAhWJOSYKHSdzDeQQ6AEIKTAA#v=onepage&q=H. Hyndman, Esq london&f=false The F and L together look like an H.
Since there's no stamp AND the location is London I suspect it's before 1840. 1840 is when Great Britain issued its first stamp.
Henry Hyndman seems to maybe have died about 1827 and ha a child (well, his wife anyways) in 1827 (maybe, not sure).. google books for Henry Hyndman fludyer or H Hyndman Fludyer
hi everyone thank you for your responses, very appreciated it turns out i think i found it, it was fludyer street in london as some of you said.
hi it looks like henry hyndman was born 10 years after the letter was sent so i don't know, it could of been addressed to his farther maybe wow
