Hoping to find someone who could maybe tell me their opinion on this, whether or not they think it is real, or where I could find info on true authenticity. I have had it looked at by numerous people (not coin collectors but educated somewhat on the matter) and have been told although they cannot tell me it's real, they aren't able to find anything to say it's not real. Please help!! **note** better photos can be taken if needed.
..reales ...not real i'm afraid, looking at the seam on the side... i could be wrong, but that's most often a tale tell sign of a copy.
Im sorry to say that is a copy, everything about it tells me it is a fake. None of the devices look correct. The seam on the rim is a sure sign of copy. You can find a real 2,4,6,8 reales pretty reasonable at times. Just shop them , but do your homework first.
I do not know much about these coins. But if you’re new to the hobby, a generally reliable place to shop is VCoins.com If you type in a search for “real Cob” or “reales” you can see these genuine coins running from about $70 to a few hundred. https://www.vcoins.com/en/Search.aspx
Thanks everyone, after my papaw died I found this in some of his things so the curiosity was really killing me because I knew it was old but know nothing about ancient coins. Thanks for the help, still pretty neat, copy or not though. I'm glad to be sure now.
