    My favorite Maximian -- and I have lots of 'em:

    It is an excellent coin and worthy of its #1 position. I have special fondness for coins with something other than letters in the mintmark. #1 has the club reminding us that Maximianus was the Roman Hercules. While I have coins of Maximianus that could be shown, the appropriate one here is the Diocletian that accompanied #1 but in place of the club of Hercules has the thunderbolt of Jupiter (with whom Diocletian identified).
