Hi, I'm new to this site so forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this.... But I have stumbled upon a penny that appears to have the date printed "1283". From my minimal research I'm sure this is a misprint but I wanted to know if anyone else has come across this sort of thing before OR, if this type of coin has any monetary value. Other than 1cent. Thanks!
I found this penny that's date is printed "1283" in an unusual font. Everything else about this coin appears to be normal. I'm sure it's a misprint but does anyone know if it has any value other than the obvious 1cent? Here's a picture of it
Starting mid 1982 Cents were minted on Copper Plated Zinc Cents. Because of this they have plating issues such as plating bubbles and blisters. What you have is a plating bubble on the number 9. Coins are minted not printed so it's never a misprint.
I answered on your other thread concerning the same coin. It's a plating bubble. Coins are struck not printed.. Paper Currency is printed
Oh ok i kind of thought that but id be lying if I said i wasn't hoping to have found a rare gem. Oh well haha well thanks man
Yeah sorry about that. On my phone it's hard to visualize where I should post on the various forums. Never the less thank u very much for the quick info
That's awesome! One pair for reading, one pair for driving and one pair for trying to convince the officer that I didn't run that stop sign. Chris
