I was looking for some advice on 2 weather this quarter is a double die or has strike doubling. It seems to have stumped some friends you can clearly see the doubling on the nostril and ear however it is not listed in any cherry picker guide or anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks 20171226_034819.jpg 20171226_034749.jpg 20171226_034743.jpg

    1944-S 25¢ WMDO-001 Master Die Doubling

Description: A strong spread to the north shows on the lower ear, the underside of the nose, and the E in WE.

Die Markers: Obverse: Will be different on each working die. Reverse: Will be different on each working die.

    Submitted By: John A. Wexler

    Cross References: CONECA: MD-1-O-IV+VII

Comments: Since this doubling traces all the way back to the master die, all 1944 dated quarters from all three Mints will show this doubling. Consequently there should be no premium value added to these quarters if they just display the master die doubling.
