Well I had a crappy Christmas, we had 15 cm. snow....so I had to do snow all day But, when I got home around this evening, my wife postponed Christmas till Boxing Day. However she let me open one gift from her to me/ turned out to be a really nice US Double Eagle from 1908 "No Motto" in MS-66+ quality....that made the day end rather well I know this coin is fairly "modern" but i still love the design.
Not a one my lovely wife and I have twins on the way so we are trying to scrimp and save...but beautiful aught eight!
I received a lump of coal this year. Even my younger son's gift is lost in the mail. I suppose I must have deserved it; however, I had a very Merry Christmas anyways. I hope everyone had a blessed day.
I received a Christmas one ounce silver round and two Canadian 1.5 ounce silver coins from my wife. She did good .
Not yet. Though we'll be having a belated gift exchange (probably early in the new year) that will include a coin or two. Look forward to sharing on CT once I have them in hand.
I wish I knew if I got coins. An emergency trip finds me 600+ miles from home helping with the moving of my 104 year old mother-in-law into a 'facility'. We wonder when it will happen depending on the arrival of her power of attorney son which is a bit affected by snow and cold. Meanwhile I was expecting a package from the recent Triskles sale but don't know if it is there yet or not. When will they return it from 'held mail'? Last night we got snow that was not predicted. This will be a memorable Christmas. My blank will fill in when I get home --- whenever that is.
Got some secret santa coins but no one else knows I collect except for my wife and she would not have clue what or where to buy for me.
I got some quite nice Numistic gifts - Unfortunately you can't see the reverses of the coins because they are shielded by thin paper and the 43 is reprocessed. This is a nice album with a slot for every country. A really nice magnifier. A very large information book. Sack-o-world coins. And some clothes with some stocking stuffers and warm boots. Hope you guys had a good Christmas! Thanks, Jacob
Some neat Christmas coin stories! My wife, bless her heart....is not the brightest when it comes to history. I think she was not paying attention in her history class Well, she at one time was one of my lawn care clients, she must have liked seeing me cut her lawn shirtless/ hence she asked me out on a date. The rest is histoty.... She was fascinated, seeing my coin collection, and wanted to learn more about the coins. I usually get the coins I win, sent first, then I send them a bank cheque. When the coin from Stack's arrived/ she hid it/ paid the invoice. So on a very snowy Christmas Day, she let me open her gift....a nice surprise! Now, she gets to watch all my fav. TV shows like Vikings/ Knightfall/Treasure of Oak Island with me....lucky her This morning, she found me having my home made cinnamon buns, with some really good Starbuck's Christmas coffee....looking at my Triton XXI auction catalogue, what can be better then that on a Boxing Day morning! Wish everyone a beautifull Christmas Holiday....
I got a pair of shoes, but to be fair, I strictly told my whole family I did not want anything at all, except a nice time with my family on Christmas day. I truly believe I already have everything I need to be happy, (except a bit better health would be nice....). The Christmas meal by the way was absolutely delicious (roast goose, same as every year).
@dougsmit : Wishing you and your mother (and your family) well, and hope all is good for you in this trying venture. I had to do the same this year with my Wife's mother (among many other trying issues). It was another difficult time for us. Here is my coin from the Triskeles Auction that I received today, that would had been an Xmas Day delivery: I got this this as a "Just becuz I really LIKED it!" RR C Curiatius f Trigeminus 135 BCE Æ quadrans 18 mm 4.8g Rome Hd Hercules lionskin 3 plts - CCVR F ROMA prow Victory wreath 3 plts Cr 240-4a; Syd460b
Last year my MIL passed away in an alzhiemers "facility", after being there around 4 years. That was and is still a rather rough experience. Wish you the best of luck.
My wife knows better (bless her heart) after one try. Kind of like buying a coin advertised as "Dates our choice". I like to see what I'm buying.
I always tell my family not to buy me coins since they know very little about the market and there are so many frauds out there. I do request the occasional coin book, however. I will celebrate Christmas twice this year- yesterday with my wife's family (Phoenix was our destination- nice place!). A week from now we'll celebrate with mine back home.
I will have roast goose today, with potato dumplings/ white asparagus in a white sauce/ also red cabbage cooked in wine with a beer. I have to apologize for saying I had a "crappy" Christmas Day....since I worked all day doing snow removal. Eduard mentioned good health....I have always took that for granted, since i have never had anything more serious then a cold all thru my life. so, i am thankfull full that!
