Someone had to start this so I'll be first. Post your coin related Christmas gift. This was a gift from my daughter. I was completely stunned when I opened it. 12 Proof Silver Dollars from Canada. I asked my daughter how she knew I was going to start collecting the series. She told me that I mentioned it to her about a month ago. I don't even recall the conversation, but am glad she listens to me when I ramble on about my coins. She was able to find 12 of the 13 coins from the 1980s period that I was planning to go after. I had only picked up 2 so far. These will never be sold and I guarantee she will be getting them back and a lot more when it's time.
My family did a "cookie/baked goods/candy exchange" this year instead of presents. I got some really good peppermint chocolate and a delicious cranberry-orange bread. Best Christmas we've had in a really long time.
I got some quite nice Numistic gifts - Unfortunately you can't see the reverses of the coins because they are shielded by thin paper and the 43 is reprocessed. This is a nice album with a slot for every country. A really nice magnifier. A very large information book. Sack-o-world coins. And some clothes with some stocking stuffers and warm boots. Have a merry (rest of) Christmas! Thanks, Jacob
Santa was good to me. My wife got me a 1974 S Clad Eisenhower and a 1976 S Clad Eisenhower (Type 1). She also loves to get me something from one of the odd denominations each year, this year it was an 1839 half dime. Its very worn but still a fun coin to have. My Mother In Law got me an 1889 British Crown, again a worn coin but one that I am enjoying.
I received the Early United States Dimes book, and it looks great from what I’ve read in it so far. It may have been elementary school aged when I came into the world, but it’s still a great reference. The only thing that’s outdated are rarity ratings (which are easy enough to find) and two new die varieties that I am exceedingly unlikely to stumble across.
