Hello my name is Doug and I'm new at coin collecting and was wondering if I could get a little help on a 1959 Lincoln Memorial penny that my daughter found in Pocket Change. It's really dirty but I can still make out all day letters and numbers and with a microscope it looks like it has full steps. You should be worth a little money I think but that's why I'm here for y'all's opinion.
Sorry but it’s only worth one cent. It’s cool that you found a first-year memorial cent but this isn’t a valuable find. Keep looking and I’m sure you’ll find something great. The full steps designation is really only relevant when it comes to jefferson nickels. Some older nickels with full steps can be worth a good sum of money but the steps on a penny don’t matter nearly as much.
First, welcome to the neighborhood @Douglas Coronado ! As previously mentioned, "Full Steps" is an attribute used only for Jefferson nickels. Please bear in mind that a microscope is great if someone uses it to post close-up images on a forum like this, but if you need a microscope to find an error, then that error really won't be worth much. Chris
Okay guys thank y'all for the valuable info I will definitely continue hunting and I will do my best 2 educate myself as fast as possible so that the next time I have to call on y'alls assistant it will hopefully be for a valuable find or just something that looks cool. Thanks again Merry Christmas to all and good night
