Question for everyone. What would happen if a wheat penny was stamped with the indian head ,then restamped with lincoln??? What kind of error would it be, and has it ever happened before,?

That would be overstruck, and the original design would be mostly obliterated. some ghosting would remain.
    Merry Christmas.

Well I have a 1925 Lincoln cent, and it looks like that. You can see the feathers from the Indians head dress and more under Lincoln. I'll put a pic up in just a minute.

I thought I would elaborate. (it's Christmas) Your cent was heavily corroded at one time then cleaned, anything you see on that coin didn't happen at the mint, the corrosive material that was on the coin ate the surface of the coin. For future reference corroded and damaged coins are not worth the time.

He's t.y. and I know that, but the 2 I am talking about ,I just posted. Although they are not valuable, can you look closely at the date and see the feathers . really, look very closely and you will see feathers and the stem of the feathers.

It is Damage, and that's it.

This is a fairly common occurrence, but it's not a coin-production issue. It's called pareidolia -- the natural human tendency to see faces, and sometimes other things, in random patterns.

Well I believe you 100 percent but I know I can see the feathers of the head dress where the date is and once you blow it up it stands out more. But thank you and I always look forward to your input. You have been a great asset since I have posted here. Thanks.
