Left is Roman republic denarius 155-120 BC right is247 Syria philippics I, TETRADRACHMOMVF+ I paid $240 for the right one and $56 for the left one. How did I do?
I just realized my post didn't make sense so I redone it. The price for republican denarius is fine. I wouldn't pay $240 for that one even though a lot are sold for that price. No insult intended. We over-pay for some and get really good deals so it always evens out in the end. Edit: Yeah, it is a very nice coin for sure. I like it.
Thank you for your replies. I’m not looking to get rich nor are they for sale. I jus want to make sure I paid in the ballpark. My LCS has only 2 trays of ancients so I’m not too sure how well versed he is on the prices. He deals. Mostly with foreign and US. AGAIN THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I find that the money spent should not be a factor when bidding/buying coins for one's collection. If in the end your happy with your new treasure, that all what counts
A factoid you might be interested in: the tetradrachms marked MON VRB were struck by the Rome mint for circulation in Syria. Coins without that mint mark were struck in Antioch.
