As some of you have suggested in another thread lets share the big silver two dollars Here are my doppeltalers. I love big silver coins and thats exactly what they are. Baden
Those are very nice examples/ I have very few AR coins/ here is one... AR Vereinsdoppeltaler 1856 Munchen Mint Maximilian II of Bayern
You have quite a collection, doppeltaler All of them are lovely. I share your liking for these massive silver coins. Their sheer size was the fist thing that attracted me many years ago when I started collecting. Since then, my tastes have diverted a little, but still have about 15 of them in my collection. I want to still add an Anhalt-Köthen or Waldeck-Pyrmont Doppeltaler to my collection someday. Here are some of mine - please excuse my very poor pictures. Doppeltaler Bayern 1860: Doppeltaler Baden 1842: Doppeltaler Hessen 1839 Doppeltaler Frankfurt 1841:
Some more Doppeltaler: Doppeltaler Preussen 1854: Doppeltaler Nassau 1844: Doppeltaler Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen 1844: Doppeltaler Sachsen-Altenburg 1841:
Magnificent coins Zohar444 You have to ask, why in God's name, can we not produce such fantastic coin designs today The quality of the engravers/ mint masters/ die designers who worked for the Holy Roman Emperors were impeccablely skilled craftsmen. Do you have any Triple/Quadruple talers? The biggest I have seen is a AR 10 Taler. John
Here is another from my meagre collection.... AR doppelvereinstaler 1840 Berlin Mint Heinrich Herzog zu Anhalt-Kothen
wow Zohar444 your coins are truly amazing. the engraving on these coins are superb. thanks for the eye candy.
Thanks a lot - Panzerman - Here is a Rudolph II 3 Taler. Also another cool and scarce St. George Medallic 2 Taler (double talers are not to be found)
I like this one as it seems using triple thick flans with the same die. Others i have seen have large diameters making me hard to consider them as coins.
