Coins seem to be priced high on eBay. Is this because of all the fees involved with selling there? Is there another auction site for world coins? I'm looking in the $20-$120 range. Thanks
Riding fees and free shipping isn’t really free. eBay is going to be your best bet at that range, the auction houses may have some stuff but their fees are even higher for sellers so most wouldn’t send coins in that range there. They’ll also charge you shipping which isn’t accounted for in the sales price
Hey NCnovice.... As Jaelus mentioned above, on the MA-Shops online mall you can find a wide range for each collectors passion. Normally all shipping costs are listed below in the specific item you click. And if there are still questions left open you are always welcome to contact the customer service for support. (E-Mail or call). World coins in that range should not be a problem. And here In this forum you will find the best professionals and semis to support you... perfect base! Hope you will find your perfect match, Cheers Sarah
Yes, there are sellers on Ebay who put sky high buy-it-now prices on common coins hoping to hook the novice collector into paying much more than a coin is worth. Most experienced coin buyers just laugh when we see those prices and move on. The auctions are what most of us use to buy coins on Ebay. Learn how the auction process works on Ebay and study it before you jump in. Your best bet is to also educate yourself on the values that the coins you are looking for are selling for. Ebay is a great place to buy coins and by far the biggest market place for coins, but it can be a minefield with scams, crooked sellers and fake coins. With experience you will be able to navigate and avoid the scams.
You are an eagle eye No seriously, the account was resting a long time and now I am catching up. Sharing and connecting with like-minded people, giving support to topics I may know about and just having some nice chats-->And btw positive surprised about my first one ;-) You're already a long time "active", hope to see you around more often some time. Sarah
Never mind, happy if you will find YOUR coin. Whether on eBay, online mall or wherever else. But as the others said before, be aware of fake high priced coins. These sellers try to catch the "lambs" under the collectors. On MA-Shops you can make a price offer to some of the dealers as well. Therefore just use the button for the price offer (mobile display is different to the desktop version). And if you don't like your shopping you have the right of the return policy- very easy handling. See you around- Sarah
Heck, I'm long in the tooth around here. Here's holding that you shall be also.........tread carefully.
I've even made offers to sellers who didn't have a "make an offer" button listed (just contact them and ask a question). Sometimes they're willing to make a deal! Granted, I usually wait a year or so before trying this - after a couple of years in their inventory, dealers are much more willing to heavily discount a coin. There's currently one I've been watching for 4-5 years. I'm hoping that after languishing for so long, this dealer will knock a thousand bucks off just to be rid of the thing.
I don’t trust a new member that owns the shop that she recommends to our new members. I too have an Eagles eye even though Europe is a long way away I can see there from here! Tread with purpose and clarity as the community is wary and all eyes are on new members. Hope this helps, Reed
Thanks Reed for your honesty. I kindly take your advice serious as a newcomer in that forum, the account rested a long time and now I am catching up. Just to clarify, I did not recommend the website- that did another member. I just gave the support. Anyway, I am not here focused on one thing. As mentioned before-sharing, connecting with like-minded people and giving support or share the knowledge to topics I'm interested in... and hey, Europe seems far away- depends on the view of location but the web is close to everybody The worldwide web gave us the opportunity to keep in touch all over the world and share our thoughts, passions and friendship. Have a good night... Europe is ready to get up- coffee is waiting
Yes you are correct you did not recommend the site originally. You did sell up the site to a new member though and it’s not OK to solicit on these forums. Again I hope this helps. Done for now, Reed
I don’t usually buy but will occasionally buy on EBay. You just have to be patient. Some times it happens on the first coin some times you have to wait for weeks to get the right deal. But the important part is you CAN find decent coins and deals on EBay but you might have to wait. Good hunting, Reed.
