Odd penny found

I was going through my grandfather's collection and came across this one. I'm not sure if it's worth anything or any explanation as to why it would look like this l

You should replace that old 2x2 anyway. So, would you mind taking the coin out and giving us better close-ups of both sides?

Yes.. Remove the Cent from the 2x2 and show us clear pictures of both sides.

At this angle it looks like you can see part of Lincoln's head

 

Maybe someone put a heat gun to it?????

i thought that too, but would that have warped the rest of the coin? i mean to get the coin that hot it would have melted through or bowed?

i thought i hit the motherlode when i found a 1909 VDB penny but it wasnt a 1909 D.
