I got one of those. Don't really need another one. ----- Or do I? /www.littletoncoin.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Display%7C10001%7C29555%7C-1%7C%7CAboutNav%7Cnews-2011-12-05.html
that $ 6.95 shipping is probably that USPS mailer where you can send pounds of material inside it. $34 for a circulated 64 kennedy not including shipping? http://www.littletoncoin.com/shop/P...egory=&parent_category_rn=10058&storeId=10001
Last time I ordered from them, I got six dollar coins for $6 and a free penny!!! And the OVERPRICED approvals.
I recall them back in the early 1970s when you would see their adds in Coin World and other such publications long before the internet and people could search for coins. I never bought from them then.
They don't even give any reason for this ludicrous price. Not the grade, nothing but a comment that 1972 the Dow passed 1000. That's meaningless. Buy this 1972 Ike for 10 times the value because Nixon was re elected in a landslide in 1972 AND WE ALL KNOW WHAT HAPPENED THEN.
Not only the Ike but look at the uncirculated 1999P Susan Anthony with shipping almost $ 35.00!! The list of those high priced items is the whole site. With the internet available today and price checking and price guides readily available one wonder how these places keep going.
When I lived in NH I took a ride up there. Well I'll tell you it was like going to a used car lot. There was a salesperson that I couldn't get rid of, so I left.
When my father and I started collecting our goal (a good buy) was acquiring a Peace Dollar for less than $20.00. Eventually we started celebrating < $18.00. A couple of months ago we picked up 10 of them for $15.00 each. So far the best we've done is $14.33 each. You poke around in the hobby a bit and you begin to find good sources for the coins you want and the prices you're willing to pay begin to drop pretty quickly. Apparently, Littleton is in it to snag a few new people with no real eye on developing life long customers - for my part, I'm looking for people to deal with for many years to come.
In your honest opinion when someone puts up a common date Ike for $30.00 (shipped (1)) are they in the business to establish long term relationships with collectors or are they looking for a quick score based upon buyer ignorance? Again, the sale is dependent upon buyer ignorance. No respect. NOTES ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1: I get Peace Dollars shipped to me all the time for $2.95. Is there some reason why it costs twice that for Littleton to ship out a silver dollar? Is the upfront scam not embarrassing enough? I assume at this point they sell your identity to telemarketers in Iran.
Cut them a break! they paid me $2 for that! (Although they return 2/3 of the shipment as not to their quality standards as they always do.)
