I grew up on a twin line BN main. Longest penny chain we got was 7 feet and a little. Overlap and tape down with tissue paper covering the coins. Best chance to get a long chain. Only use copper, zincs split to much. Only works well when four or more locomotives are pulling a half mile heavy doing over 40 MPH. And if you’ve seen the news today but that is the same line I lived as a kid about 10 miles north of the train derailment that happened today. My son was scheduled for a trip on that train tomorrow.
A friend of mine’s Dad was a big wig in the Long Shore Workers Union. Mitch had an almost unlimited supply of Rail Road Torpedo signals..........you can imagine! Oh I almost forgot the mountain of Fusees. (Got to look that one up yourself)
@Santinidollar you mistake my intentions. I care not to hurt the poor Zincoln I just want to conserve it’s memory. So you sir are correct I will do nothing to hurt this coin. The Zinc core is eating itself up as we speak and soon all that will be left is a thin copper shell. So it is harming itself quite well without my help. Sincerely, Reed
Should have put in the 'add a penny, take a penny' jar at the deli, small convenience, liquor (he never says that) store............
So can you account for your whereabouts this morning at about 7:40AM PST? Anywhere near the Puget Sound? What? Too soon?
My wife and I have been under that train bridge hundreds of times and both know that overpass well. They just changed all the track and road bed for that line from south to north completely as part of our 50 years to late public transportation system upgrade. The whole line has been a success with state-of-the-art designs and materials. I’m sickened to see that happen to anybody but life is just a simple numbers game and it could have been me. One of my buddies Billy put a tie on the track and the BN train Dicks were in the woods for weeks after that. It as 1976. That’s as close as I came to derailing a train and I was 350 miles away on a family vacation. What ARE you insinuating Mr.V. Kurt Bellman!
I was able to zoom right in on that crash site on Apple Maps. Lots and lots of construction all over the median of I-5 at that site. Track isn't the only work that's been going on there.
