I thought this one was real modern and artsy, until I saw some of the ones already posted, wow.

 

Latvia has a few cool ones too. Of course all those collector coins, be they "from" Niue or Congo, are not made for circulation, but some are nevertheless quite attractive. This is not mine but an image from the central bank's website:

No sweat. Those are really amazing and beautiful coins. In this age of computerized everything, it must be not so difficult to make such intricate and artistic coins. Maybe I will commission some clever guy in China to make some for me.

Some have a denomination, making them coins. The others are medals, or bullion rounds, etc...

 

The French Mint has come up with ... a gold plate. Part of the revamped Monnaie de Paris site with the new "11 Conti" museum in central Paris is the restaurant Guy Savoy. The range of pieces goes from an oval (egg!) silver €10 coin which costs only 78 euro to one that is a little bigger, ahem. Face value €5,000, one kilo gold (Au 999), diameter 85 cm, mintage 11. No, there is no typo here ...



That big one is shaped like a fondue pot. The different "colors" are due to rose gold, yellow gold and white gold being used for the piece. The silverish/black thing, apparently separate, is supposed to look like a truffle. Anyway, for only €130,000 (currently about $154,000) one of the kilo pieces is yours.
