I have seen coins with square holes and round holes. Have there been coins with any other shapes of holes in them? 8-pointed star in Muslim countries? Triangle? Post piscs.
Australia's 50 cent is massive and 12 sided. And then you have the British coins with 7 sides: You have holed oval shaped coins for early Japanese coins (don't have a picture for it yet) Interesting bi-metal 7 sided coin for Jordon Scallop shape for Hong Kong And... can't think anything off right now at the moment.
Obviously I wasn't reading properly. My apologizes. Here's what I have from what I can remember: Supposely a square hole but somehow ended up to be a circular hole as well as some casting issue at the back - don't know how that can possibly happen Not particularly interesting but notice how the number 5 makes use of the hole - pretty interesting Speaking of which I don't think I can think of any at the moment other than circles and squares.
Here are some interesting pictures of transport tokens with all kinds of oddly shaped holes. http://foto.mail.ru/mail/ml_alexb/914/ Yeah, tokens and not coins ... but great holes. Christian
Thank you Christian!!! Vielen Dank noch einmal Christian! The fact that they are tokens is irrelevant to me; it does not diminish my enjoyment at all. These are my favorites. How did you find this page? Do you know some Russian? I am quite curious about some of the other pieces.
