Well, as long as Congress doesnt approve of extending the Quarter program to include U.S. territories I believe that the quarter is supposed to resume the pre-statehood design.
It will be forced to return to the old design after the statehood series if congress or the treasury secretary don't order a re-design or an extension before 2009.
Kind of hope they do go back to the old design. It would be interesting to see if any statehood collectors take an interest in the 32-98 design. I know some have but would like to see it increase.
Thats great to know but I dont think the U.S. will start a County Quarter program anytime soon, just think of how many years that one would drag on...lol. But seriously, By including U.S. territories we mean places like American Samoa, Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, Midway Islands, Puerto Rico ,the Virgin Islands and possibly Washington D.C.. As far as I'm concerned they can end the program when the states are done and go back to the original reverse design.
it's already been proposed several times, the bill keeps dying in the senate where these people have no representation. There are always 6 mentioned: American Samoa, Guam, Midway Islands, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C.
