Still early, four more years on parks. I feel the different programs have been really good for the hobby. What could they do to bring back the excitement that the state quarter program brought?
I'm hoping they change the Washington design to something new, or recycle and old design Thanks, Jacob
I think most American's don't even realize they're doing parks right now. They've never heard of the ATB series (if they find one, they largely assume it's just one of the state quarters). I was talking with some people at work about the recent Fort Moultrie quarter for SC, and they were completely surprised to find out that this series was happening. I think the first few years of the State quarters were good for the hobby. At this point, however, it's becoming like stamp collecting - you need 300 coins to complete the set, and who in their right mind is going to do that?
Revive the Standing Liberty design. Or something new with Liberty. Just don’t use a person! Obviously, I’m not thinking of a series but good old George has been with us since 1932.
Frankly, I would like to see a total overhaul of our coinage, with an emphasis on Lady Liberty. I believe that would spur a lot of public interest, drawing in some new collectors along the way. And have a sculptor do the designs — not a Marvel comic book artist, which one could swear turned out some of the junk from the Mint recently.
They have changed the nickel several times now. Look what we have now for a nickel. The little Dutch boy who put his finger in the dike. Everytime they change the coinage it gets worse.
Doing another series upon the completion of the parks series would generate very little interest IMHO. they need to do a new quarter all together. I’d like to see an allegorical liberty design, but just a George redesign could work as well if done right. After about a decade, they could do something like state flags, state flowers, or whatever else that would have residents of each state grabbing them up. There’s no doubt that the state quarter program brought tons of new collectors, but if you look at prices over time, it’s clear that a huge number of the new collectors have already dropped out of the hobby.
How about the 50 State Gemstones! I want to share the following webpage with you - https://www.thoughtco.com/official-state-gems-1441149
Oh no! Please don’t encourage the mint to do some ridiculous colorized quarters. I swear I’ll quit collecting and sell off my collection if the mint makes some trash like this.
Haha.. I thought the same but they don't have to be colorized. Just it's natural formation would be nice.
Look there's some people out there who think Eisenhower was originally on the dime. And now that they're shocked to see Roosevelt on the dime and they're calling this the Mandela effect LMAO.
It's really only 3 more years because in 2021 there's only 1 release. As for a new design, I want the old design back. Pre Delaware design. I want the old nickel design back. Either make cents out of copper or stop making them. Stop making half dollars. If I HAVE to have a new design how about some famous person from each state who didn't destroy this country too badly.
Washington crossing the Delaware design has already been chosen for 2021 and beyond quarters. Perhaps after a couple years of the new design people will finally wake up to the fact the old Washington is done. Unfortunately the obverse will remain nearly unchanged.
