Oh, and based on the coin above:

    New theme:
    • Coins with holes in the middle, OR
    • Coins with six-pointed stars on them

More Egypt featuring a coin collector. (Well a bit too late, but it does have six corners.)

A common one picked up cheap at the local show. Wonder what it sat on to get that color? I found it in a simple 2x2.

More mint made holed coins please.

Lets try something new. Something where the date isn't strictly obvious.

In this case the large 1963 is not necessarily the date. Inside the small stars to either side of España are tiny imprints. The star to the left has a tiny 19. The star to the right has a 63. So in this case it really is a 1963. However, it could have been a 1964 or 1965 too :). The '1949's have bit more variety, but even so, not all with a large 1949 are really 1949!

If that doesn't sound fun, then post something with an anchor. Anchors are cool.

And isn't it neat that after an embarrassing number of years I've learned how to make n-->ñ !

Anchors are a cool theme, but I lack photography of any of my coins with them, so I'm going with the "something where the date isn't strictly obvious" theme.

This 1739 Swiss/Zurich half-thaler has the date in a little cartouche, on the bottom of the cityview side. It's easy to miss amongst all the other details. Click for the bigger photo and look down near those boats.

An even higher resolution photo can be seen by clicking the image on the cert page.

Oh, and here is one with an anchor that I forgot about, if anyone prefers that theme.

    As mentioned earlier, here's a 1949 Spanish 5 peseta coin, that's really a 1950:

Another hidden date on a Spanish coin. This one is so well hidden I had a hard time figuring it out. It must be 1956 by default as these were only released into circulation for two years, 1954 & 1956.

I have played this one before,
but it's a good example of a date
    blended in the design.

Whatever I like? How about coins NOT composed of silver, gold or copper. (I have not a clue if this will work). Here is the trio of 1943 Lincoln steel cents.
